The Church of Santiago has undergone several modifications throughout the centuries. The most radical occurred in the sixteenth century, when a second church was built on the early church, to serve as the Church of the city's Mercy. This unusual addition, built in the 1540s, was removed in the restoration works of the first half of the twentieth century.
Built between the last years of the XII century and the first of the XIII century, it is one of the great medieval monuments in the Romanesque style of the city.
