Lachay is a representative sample of the hills of the central coast of Peru. It is a fog-based ecosystem, so there is only greenery in the coastal winter months (June to September). It is a natural formation with indigenous vegetation and fauna of notable importance, which gives it special scientific and cultural significance. The hills are highly seasonal ecosystems typical of the coastal desert, whose main source of moisture is the fogs from the ocean. They generally endure harsh dry conditions in summer and enjoy the humidity of mists in winter.



North of the city of Lima, at kilometer 105 of the North Pan-American Highway, District of Huacho, Province of Huaura. The reserve area has an area of ​​5,070 ha. It is located between 500 and 1000 m.s.n.m

Hikes.- It is possible to take walks through the circuits that are within the Reserve, where one can observe / photograph / contemplate the flora, fauna and landscapes that surround one. The approximate time to go through these internal circuits varies from 20 minutes to 1 hour, but these times are relative and depend a lot on the physical condition and the time you stop to appreciate the environment.

Camps.- There are three areas to grill and set up camps, implemented with wooden tables, grills and bathrooms or latrines, as well as parking areas in each area. There is also an interpretation center and a team of park rangers.



Circuits within the Reserve



Of the 5,070 hectares of extension that the nature reserve has, 400 are destined for public use. There are three well-defined circuits within this area that allow you to visit the main points of interest in the hills. These are: 1. The Zorro Circuit, which is 1.4 kilometers long; 2. The Circuit of the Taras, with almost 3 kilometers, and 3. The Circuit of the Partridge, with little more than 5 kilometers.
