The house built on the edge of the cliff, just above the Sotomayor square, has a privileged view of the city. It has been restored and functions as the Lord Thomas Cochrane Museum of the Sea.
It is an old colonial-style house built in 1842 by the Englishman Juan Muat, who installed the first observatory in Chile in one of its rooms.
It exhibits pieces of Naval Modeling and rotating exhibitions are held throughout the year, in addition the environment is cared for with pleasant gardens and old trees.
