The Apurimac river, whose Quechua name means ´´The speaking god´´ is one of the main geographical features of the region and marks the boundary between the departments of Cusco and Apurimac.
It originates in the Andes mountain range, in the Nevado Mismi mountain (5597 m), between Cuzco and Arequipa, 650 kilometers southeast of Lima and 160 km west of the Lake Titicaca basin, being the most distant source of the Amazon basin.
It is born in the heights of Cailloma Arequipa, and in its 700 km of route it forms narrow and deep canyons, whose rapids and eddies are a true magnet for adventurers from all over the world who come here to make one of the most important rafting circuits in the planet.
