It consists of a long valley, quite barren, but not without attractions. The reserve is a refuge for a large number of native species. This includes a large population of parrots or ravines, usually seen flying in large flocks across the valley, a large population of currently recovering guanacos, and their natural predator, the puma.
At the bottom of this valley, which is accessed by a narrow path suitable for mules or horses, is the source of the Cipreses River, which once flowed at the beginning of the valley from the Cipreses Glacier. However, the glacier has retreated over the years and is currently located high in the valley in a kind of rock cap that encloses what is left of it.
It is impressive show.
Located 16 kilometers northeast of Termas de Cauquenes, 41 kilometers northeast of Machalí and 50 kilometers east of Rancagua.
Another noteworthy aspect is the petroglyphs left by small groups of hunters 5,000 or 8,000 years ago in various places in the reserve, such as Piedra del Indio.
