Roatan
The islands of the bay are a popular destination for tourists wishing to do various types of sea-related activities, including diving. Roatan is the largest island of the three; It has an international airport as well as a port that exports and imports products to and from Honduras. Roatán is one of the areas with the most foreign tourism in Honduras, along with cities like Copán and La Ceiba.
Roatan Island, the largest of the Bay Islands of Honduras, is located between the islands of Utila and Guanaja. It is 45 kilometers long, less than 8 kilometers at its widest point and is located 30 miles from the Honduran coast.
Roatán's main city is Coxen Hole, which is also the municipal and departmental chief, and has the largest number of inhabitants. Other major cities include French Harbor, West End, West Bay, Punta Gorda and Oak Ridge.
The easternmost district of the island is separated by a channel through mangroves, 15 meters wide on average. This section is called Helene or Santa Elena in Spanish. The satellite islands in the far east are Morat, Barbareta and Pigeon Cay. Further west, between French Harbor and Coxen Hole, is Stamp Cay and Barefoot Cay.

Tourism
Its tourist attractions are:
Stone Castle: Cameo school, sale of stones and carved curls.
The beach and the sea, a turquoise sea water due to the purity of the beach, in the absence of vegetation, due to a natural or artificial barrier of stone or coral near the beach.
In areas where there is no barrier, there is also crystal clear water, although it does not look blue (except for Coxen Hole, as discharges dirty the water).
As Roatán has beautiful beaches, it is on the route of many cruise lines, reaching up to 5 ships a week in high season.
Tourism is the engine of the island, when cruises arrive is when all the shops open.
There are several hotels in Roatán, for Easter or Christmas dates reservations must be made in advance as the rooms are usually occupied.
